The target of a search by the 2nd and 3rd Squads, Ichigo, Rukia and Kannogi are in hiding. Meanwhile, it is revealed that Rurichiyo has been captured by Kumoi. Deciding to go search for Rurichiyo, as soon as Ichigo and company reach the surface, they are confronted by Captain Amagai.

Full Summary

Ichigo, Rukia and Kannogi are underground hiding from the 2nd and 3rd Squads whom have been assigned to search for them. It seems that when Rurichiyo was returning to Soul Society through her families personal senkaimon gate, Kumoi has captured her and locked her within a cage in a tower. Kifune seems to be watching over here and mentions that he will keep her their until at least Ichigo is out the way.

Lieutenant Kira still suspects that 3rd Seat Kifune is up to something, and Captain Amagai decides to lead the search himself.

Renji is convinnced that Rukia and Ichigo wouldn’t do anything without a reason while Captain Byakuya Kuchiki comments that he has no compasion for those whom upset of the peace of Soul Society. Although aware of Renji’s feelings about the matter, he places Renji in charge of the 6th Division’s search efforts.

Still underground, Ichigo and company are drawn out to the surface after they hear Shinagami approaching. Upon reaching the surface, they are met by Captain Amagai. Rukia comments that if it was one of the other captains, that they may have been able to talk themselves out of the situation.

A fight ensures between Ichigo and Captain Amagai whom wants to see the abilities of a Substitute Shinagami. Impressed by Ichigo’s strength, Captain Amagai releases his zanpakutō and they continue to fight.

However, the fight is stopped when Kannogi runs out between Ichigo and Amagai and interrupts the fight revealing that he isn’t a hostage and is with Ichigo and Rukia of his own accord and begins to explain the situation.

Discussing the situation with Captain Amagai, they manage to convince him that they are truthful and although this isn’t within his Jurisdiction, he is going to help.

Thoughts

It’s amazing that with all they’ve done, they - Ichigo and friends -  still haven’t earnt the trust of Soul Society’s key figures. However, considering Kumoi’s position maybe I shouldn’t be so surprised.

We got to see Amagai’s zanpakutō release which is always good. It’s a shame that the fight didn’t go on long enough to see his bankai, but it’s good that they have a Captain on their side now. How this will effect the postion of the other Captains and the Captain-Commander remains to be seen.

I’m also wanting to know whereabouts this arch fits in with the Arrancar storyline. Earlier episodes showed Uryū Ishida with the Quincy arrow that was revealed in the Arrancar arch which makes it likely afterwards, but how far? Where will it be officially positioned?
