The liberation of Japan begins, but first Lelouch must confront Suzaku in an effort to save Nunnally.

Full Summary

The episode opens with Jeramiah confronting Guilford, Jeramiah apparently has information that only he can tell him about Princess Cornelia. The opening visual plays, and we are informed that the Black Knights are beginning their liberation of Area 11 and Japan. The Britannian citizens of Area 11 are informed that the Knight of One will protect them. Luciano Bradley easily breaks through the Black Night’s forces, while noting that this is to easy for an attack from the Black Nights, that is until he has to fight Li Xingke noting that he lives up to his name.

Lelouch confronts Suzaku whom interrogates him for what he under the mask of Zero has done. Lelouch takes responsibility for all the sins he has committed, but insists that his sister Nunnally, is innocent. Kneeling before Suzaku, Lelouch asks for forgiveness and begs Suzaku, to save Nunnally. He’d give up the Black Nights, the Geass, all of it if it meant his sister would be saved. Suzaku places his foot on Lelouch’s head bringing it to the ground and proceeds to ask if Lelouch thinks he will be forgiven to which Lelouch replies “I don’t.”. Suzaku states that Zero is supposed to be able to create miracles and that if this is true, to bring back Euphy. However, Lelouch reveals that “There are no miracles. It’s all calculations and theatrics. The mask known as Zero is a symbol.” Suzaku says if its a lie, live that lie. But Lelouch comments that he cannot return to the past.

Suzaku then wants to know why Lelouch cast a “live on” geass. He isn’t happy with it as the command “live on” bends his values. He sees it as a curse. He asks why he was saved when he was going to executed for Prince Clovis’s murder to which Lelouch replies to gain the trust of the Japanese. Suzaku recognises the look in Lelouchs eyes, they are of someone who is willing to suffer punishment and hide away their own secret. Suzaku joined the Britannian Army to prevent this from happening again, to atone. Suzaku says the only way Lelouch can atone for his lies is to make those lies become truth. To end the war, make a world of peace… for Nunnally’s sake. Its something only Zero could do. To save Nunnally, Suzaku would join Lelouch again.

However, at this moment they are interrupted, and Lelouch is left filling betrayed. He is captured by the Britanian forces and confronted by his brother. His brother Schneizel says he will be the mediator between Lelouch and Charles, asking Lelouch to trust him. However, Lelouch has given up trusting anyone. Friendship has betrayed him.

Earlier however, Guilford had secretly met with Jeremiah only to be instead placed under Geass by Lelouch with the instruction to see him as Princess Cornelia when he touches his collar. When Lelouch does this, Guilford sets him free and heads towards the Tokyo settlement in a Knightmare Frame. He then activates the Gefincon disturber on all the trains throughout the Tokyo Settlement which knocks out the power and the Britanian defences along with it.

Lelouch then proceeds to notify Toudou and his plan is set into action. The Black Nights had been sneaking into Japan under the water this entire time. Rolo is standing by in preparation to rescue Nunnally,

Prince Schneizel

Meanwhile, Prince Schneizel reflects that he now feels that he holds all the cards.

Thoughts

Things seemed to be finally going right when Suzaku almost joined Lelouch, but unfortunately Lelouch’s brother Schneizel saw that this did not occur, and now Lelouch is left feeling betrayed, giving up on his feelings and attempting to be flawless, which he now sees as being cold and ruthless which is much like his father. Hopefully Lelouch comes to his senses within the next few episodes.

Nunnally remains the most important thing to Lelouch. I would hate to see another repeat of what happened to his half-sister, Princess Euphemia. I think that would utterly destroy him.

C.C. seems to have a ring of sorts on her finger, what does this signify? As much as I would like to see them becoming a couple, at this point I don’t see it happening especially after this latest development.

Once again, the episodes left on a cliffhanger. I’m eagerly awaiting next week’s episode.
